Other dangers like jellyfish inundation
You definitely need to pack in everything that you need for a fun beach day here at Lanikai. But there are things out on the beach to also be careful about when you visit here.
One big problem you’ll sometimes encounter is the Portuguese man-o-war jellyfish which can be present along windward beaches. These pretty jellyfish colored bluish-purple blobs are small and the size of a quarter, but they pack a deadly burn-sized but can have long tentacles. If any part touches your skin, it will burn and itch. The only solution is to get any of the bits found on the skin and gently remove them. Try to avoid jellyfish days at the beach because it really is not fun to be in the water with these little buggers.
The sun is intense here at Lanikai so do bring coverups. You’ll get sunburn quickly if you don’t have sunscreen and coverups and the rest of your day will not be fun. So make sure that you have put your sunscreen on generously.
